Riviera 33 Bluewater Fly BridgeIf you buy this boat you are getting a real bargain. After sustaining a neck injury in an accident I could no longer manage my 38 foot cruising yacht, so we sold it and bought the Riviera. Unfortunately this was at the start of Covid and we could not use it. So I spent this time making major improvements to the boat - new stove, new gas bottles, new barbeque, new upholstery, new 12' Raymarine plotter/sounder, new hatches, new opening port lights, new dorade vents, and so on. When Covid ended, and we actually got to USE the boat, we discovered we did not like motor boat cruising, so bought another, smaller, yacht. The Riviera has not been used since. So this boat is now offered for sale with heaps of new stuff that has only been used a couple of times. What a bargain!!!So let's look at why this Riviera 33 is better than others you might look at?1. It's a Bluewater. That means it has an extra master cabin with double bed, as well as the V Berth you find on most 33s. It also has a settee in the main saloon which most don't. This gives you sleeping for 5 people instead of the 2 people accommodated in other Riviera 33s.2. It's set up to make catering family meals a joy. There is a large "Galleymate 2000" BBQ (new 2020) in the cockpit, permanently plumbed to the gas supply. There is a two burner "Eno" gas stove (new 2020) in the galley. There is a 2 x 4 kg gas bottle supply in the cockpit with gas monitor and solenoid switch in the galley so you can turn the gas on and off from the galley without going to the cockpit on those wet and windy nights. There is an upright 12 volt fridge with a small freezer section to keep perishables fresh and drinks cold. A hatch has been placed above the galley so that meals and drinks can be handed straight up to the fly bridge from the galley without having to go out and climb the ladder. You won't find that on any other Riv 33.3. Most boats of this age have leaking hatches and port lights which make life on board a misery in wet weather or heavy spray. This vessel has all new "Lewmar" hatches (new 2020) and all new "Lewmar" opening portlights (new 2021). Not only is it a totally dry boat, it is also well ventilated to keep it fresh when closed up. There are dorade vents (new 2022) on the foredeck, and a solar day/night fan vent (new 2022) over the head.4. For the navigator, there is a "Raymarine Axiom plus" 12 inch plotter/sounder (new 2022), with the capability to accept radar, auto pilot etc.5. When you come aboard from the near new air-deck dinghy, there's a dedicated outboard bracket in the cockpit for the dinghy's motor so it doesn't slide around, and "duck board davits" so you can stow the dinghy, still inflated, securely on the duck board.6. If you're going offshore, do so with the sense of security that comes from knowing there's a four-person life raft on board. You won't find that with most Riv 33s. Of course there's also an EPIRB and lots of flares.7. This was going to be our "for ever" boat so a lot of money has been spent on it and there's lots of new stuff, such as the new leather upholstery on the dinette and settee seats, and new sea cocks and stainless steel exhausts for the engines. (Turbos replaced 2018 by previous owner. )And of course there are all the other standard features which make Riviera 33s one of the most sought after boats in their class. Enclosed fly bridge with clears in very good condition. Twin showers; one in head, the other in cockpit to wash down after swimming. Twin Volvo 200 hp TAMD 41 D diesels that have been regularly serviced and run well. Dual helm stations. Electric anchor winch with all chain ground tackle. Game fishing poles. Top speed around 15 knots. Cruise all day at 12 knots on the plane, or economically in displacement mode at 7-8 knots; then anchor in some beautiful, remote spot to enjoy comfortable accommodation and magnificent on-board meals. Settle down for the night with hatches and doors open but no mosquitoes thanks to comprehensive insect screening.
