History: The Costaguta shipyard in Genoa Voltri was one of the most renowned and refined shipyards for the construction of European racing yachts. It was founded in 1897 and the first order was the 5 Tonn racer. Nella for S.A.R. the Duke of Abruzzi, and it was not the only boat built for him, but the very famous 10 Tonnellate Arcica that won the 1902 France in only two trials such was the superiority. Very numerous and important were the boats of the metric class fin from the origin of the new formula in 1907. Miranda II was born as 6 M International Tonnage by the will of the Cav.Uff.Rag. Carlo Ciampi. His original sail number was I-56. The Ragionier Ciampi was a famous competitor: before Miranda II he was the owner of Miranda, another 6 M racing, also built under the II measurement rule in 1927 again from Costaguta and in 1938 Miranda III launched a magnificent 8MSI with which he won numerous regattas. owner has numerous historical documents concerning Miranda II ● Construction and Accomodations: New planking of the hull and new frames which are now made of oak lamellar. New metal connections: screws-nails. New lead ballast cast on the original measurements, new keel pins. ● Description: Today Miranda II is a jewel. The current owner found it in a state of neglect in a garage in Milan. he dedicated a refined and perfected restoration to it in England, of which the most important phases were: replacement of the whole planking of the hull and frames which are now in oak laminate. New metal connections: screws-nails. New lead ballast cast on the original measurements, new keel pins. Perfectly painted and varnished.
