Video Video playback appears to be unsupported in your browser ** SOLD** Very rare Character Boats Post Boat/Coast 15 with Bermuda rig. The hull is a standard Post Boat hull with the Bermuda rig specified by the original owner and supplied by Character Boats from new. Both the mast and boom are Selden aluminium spars, with the mast being able to be halved for transport with the removal of a bolt. Dual Slab reefing cheek blocks are installed on the boom. I am unaware of another similar boat in existence but there’s possibly one other, as the sail number for my boat is 02. The boat was also specified new with a fetching maroon coloured spray hood, (please see photo) which is included in the sale and is in excellent condition. Character Boats’ description: The Post Boat’s hull is moulded in hand laid fibreglass to a sturdy specification. While made in fibreglass to ensure easy maintenance, they retain the charm and many characteristics of the wooden originals. This very attractive craft gains attention wherever it is seen. The Post Boat boasts polished stainless steel hull and mast fittings. Stainless steel halyard cleats are fitted to attractive wood plinths at mast bulk head, while comfort is ensured as the cockpit has overlaid hardwood seating. The craft are fitted with substantial protective metal bands to keel and bilge runners, with a drain bung fitted in keel. A diaphragm type bilge pump is included.The engine (not included) is situated well within cockpit for a standard shaft outboard motor, where it is safe and easy to operate. The Bermuda rig, mainsail with slab reefing and roller reefing jib come as standard. Standing rigging is stainless steel. Running rigging polyester braided ropes, standard blocks are supplied in keeping with the style of the craft. Pair of rowlocks and sockets fitted. Lazy jacks are fitted. Foresail fitted with roller reefing. Road trailer unbraked EU type approved purpose designed fully galvanised chassis with unique easy low loading and self aligning guide rollers system. Chassis has substantial metal footsteps type mudguards. Independent suspension units. Fitted with 10” wheels, heavy duty 6 ply tyres. (2 spare wheels in good condition) Wide tyre, telescopic jockey wheel. Hubs fitted with bearing savers. Trailer complete with 2000lbs two speed winch, and is easily towed by a family car. Specification: LOA 14ft 6in, Length Rigged 18ft, Beam 6ft 8in, Draught 1ft 9in, Weight 480kg, Towing Weight 640kg Post Boat is certified as RCD Category C for 5 persons. This lovely little boat is in great condition, has always been dry sailed, never been left on a mooring and, as you can see from the photos, has never been anti-fouled. She’s been rigged for easy single handing, including a self tacking jib, tiller tamer and lazy jacks. She’s a very sea worthy and stable vessel. Included in the sale is a custom made Trident boom up cover which is now 5 years old. It’s a little tired but still in serviceable condition and provides complete protection. I’ll be replacing the trailer’s wheel bearings prior to pickup by the new owner - just for peace of mind. Included in the sale is a mast crutch for transport and a stub mast to set the boom up cover correctly. The original oars which are in excellent condition are also included in the sale.
