Western australia - PerthSwallow is a 1985 Duncanson 29 yacht that was designed and professionally built for the original Swallow Syndicate. The Duncanson 29 is a well-regarded SA made yacht ideally suited to the waters of the Gulf of St Vincent. Swallow is currently moored in a protected marina berth in Refuge Cove, North Haven, only a few minutes from the Gulf. Swallow has made many trips across the Gulf to Port Vincent, Black Point and down to Kangaroo Island in recent years. She is well appointed with a metho two burner stove and grill, 4 berths, toilet, roller reefing foresail, slab reefing mainsail with 3 reefing points and in recent years has had new standing rigging, new engine, new mainsail, new autopilot, new dinghy and recent internal cleaning. The engine is professionally serviced every year and she is slipped every two years for inspection, antifouling and anode replacement. Swallow has a full set of safety equipment including flares, EPIRB, VHF radio, navigation lights, fenders and mooring lines. The Swallow Syndicate has been operating since 1985. It comprises 6 co-owners with 6 equal shares. Currently, one of the co-owners is nominated as Skipper and another looks after the accounts. A schedule is agreed each year and each co-owner gets 1 weeks use every 6 weeks, from Thursday to Tuesday. Wednesdays are available for any syndicate member to sail. A maintenance week is also scheduled for each spring. An annual meeting is held each spring, where the Skipper is appointed and maintenance program and budget is agreed. For the last 2 years, the annual fee, which covers mooring, insurance, boat registration, engine servicing, slipping & scheduled maintenance has been $1,200. Swallow has a good mix of long term co-owners and also more recent owners. I have recently purchased my own boat so am looking to sell my share. Other shares may also become available in due course. The cost of each share is $6,000, which includes the current year’s annual fee. This is a very affordable way of owning a share in a safe, seaworthy yacht, capable of sailing in all conditions for a fraction of owning a yacht outright, that will rarely be sailed more than once every few weeks.
