Bristol 41.1 Centre Cockpit - Shoal Draft Sloop by Ted HoodThe Bristol 41.1 is a gracious, comfortable and very seaworthy vessel. Designer Ted Hood was an innovative sailmaker, a naval architect and America's Cup winner. He designed yachts for long range cruising with racecourse performance. Several models were built with lifting keels; with the Little Harbor and Bristol range being among the most popular sailing yacht designs. Some 104 hulls were built by Bristol Yachts and they are known for their excellent performance and supreme fit-out and finish.Takalani (meaning 'Be Happy') was launched in 1981 and spent her early years cruising the West Coast of the US down to Mexico. She exchanged owners and set sail on a honeymoon cruise along the Coconut trail across the Pacific to Australia. She was purchased in Mooloolaba in 2012 by her previous owners who were looking for a solid and safe, sea-kindly yacht that would be easy to sail single handed but provide the space to live comfortably aboard for extended periods. They spent 12yrs cruising the East coast of Australia and Tasmania while caring for the vessel incredibly well. She was purchased mid 2023 by her current owner and sailed to Tasmania soon after.
